Independent directors get new website

Professional institutes, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) along with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, on Monday unveiled a portal for independent directors called Independent Directors Repository.

ICAI president K Raghu said in a statement, “ICAI is very happy that this Independent Directors Repository would be really beneficial and it is a big opportunity for the members of the three professional institutes and other persons who are eligible and willing to act as independent directors.”

The portal is now operational and the URL of the portal is http://independentdirector.inThe portal has been developed under the encouragement of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and the Section 150 of the Companies Act, 2013 provides for creation and maintenance of a database of independent directors. 

Besides facilitating individuals who are eligible and willing to act as independent directors, the portal will also help  companies select those who are eligible and willing to act as independent directors, ICAI said.
