The State government has decided to celebrate Krishna Janmashtami on August 17 and released Rs 69 lakh for the purpose. However, it has not declared holiday for the celebrations.
As per a government order dated August 11, 2014, every district and taluk has been given Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 each, respectively, for the celebrations. Besides, Rs 10 lakh has been released for the celebrations in Bangalore by the Kannada and Culture department.
The decision to this effect has been taken following a petition by Karnataka Rajya Yadava Sangha, it is stated.
