RGUHS probe panel seeks more time

Last Updated 14 August 2014, 20:28 IST

The expert committee constituted under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) to probe the irregularities in the postgraduate answer scripts of 2013-14, has sought extended period of 10 days to compile the report.

The committee, headed by Dr Rajesh Shenoy, was scheduled to present the report at the university syndicate meeting on Thursday.

However, now a special syndicate meeting will be convened to discuss the matter. A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting on Thursday.

The alleged tampering of answer scripts of the recent postgraduate medical exams of RGUHS came to light when the university received a letter sent in the name of a student by name Ullas. The letter alleged tampering of answer scripts pertaining to the exams held in April/May 2014. The letter sent by the student points to the role of a private courier company that was involved in transportation of the scripts.

Following this, RGUHS constituted an inquiry committee and preliminary investigation revealed that there was indeed tampering of answer scripts (restitching) pertaining to one student. The results of the exam had already been announced and the university had to take action depending on the findings of the committee.
