Cab driver abducted, robbed

Four people abducted a cab driver in an auto-rickshaw and robbed him of Rs 2,000 and an ATM card late on Saturday night.

They attacked the victim with a dragger, injured him and abandoned him at Mysore Bank Circle, the police said.

According to Ullas, the complainant, the incident took place at 11.30 pm near Chikkabanavara railway station. He had gone there with a friend who was scheduled to board a train. He was waiting near the railway station for an auto-rickshaw to return home after the train departed. The miscreants came in an auto-rickshaw and abducted him on the pretext of dropping him, he said in the complaint.

They took him to Bagalagunte and then to Yeshwantpur. Later, they reached Basaveshwaranagar, where they robbed him and attacked him. They proceeded towards Mysore Bank Circle where they abandoned him. Ullas hired another auto-rickshaw, reached the police station and lodged the complaint.

Woman hangs herself

Latha, 30, wife of a lawyer, committed suicide at her home in Govindrajanagar on Saturday night.
She reportedly hanged from the ceiling fan some time after her husband went to work in the morning.
