A Manipuri girl was allegedly molested by her landlord at south Delhi’s Bikaji Cama Palace on Sunday.

The Delhi University student was on one of her regular visits to her aunt’s house when the alleged incident took place.

The accused also allegedly misbehaved with the victim’s aunt, who lives in a rented accommodation in Mohammadpur village with another friend.

Before approaching police, the two women hid themselves in a room after the door of the living room was broken down by the allegedly intoxicated 42-year-old man, a representative of northeast people living in Delhi told Deccan Herald.

Police detained the 45-year-old man, while maintaining there was no incident of molestation or attempt to rape.

“The woman alleged that landlord forcibly entered the room and abused them verbally. He threatened them and remarked on their origin,” said B S Jaiswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South).

Jaiswal said the accused Mahindra Tokas claimed the quarrel was over keeping the water motor switched on for too long. He said Mahindra will be booked for threatening and making racist remarks.

NE representatives, who went to help the victims at R K Puram police station, had a totally different tale to narrate. They claimed police were registering a case of attempt to rape against the accused.
“The landlord came to the house with an unknown man the first of the three times.

He knew there were only women in the house and he was looking for an opportunity to sexually harass them,” Bruce Thangkhal, an NE representative, told this newspaper.

The women emerged from the room and entered it only after the landlord left. He returned a second time to sit on their bed against their wishes and also allegedly molested the DU student. When the women began screaming, he left the room, only to return once again.

“The women locked the door, but the man broke open. The women then locked themselves inside another room before approaching police. He passed racist comments against them and threatened them,” alleged Thangkhal.
