Exclusive portal for Malleswaram residents

Last Updated 19 August 2014, 20:21 IST

To provide Malleswaram residents with a platform to voice their civic grievances, an online citizen service portal called ‘Malleswaram Sahaaya’ was launched on Tuesday.

Malleswaram MLA, Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, who initiated the project, launched the portal, http://malleshwaram.sahaaya.in/. The user-friendly, citizen-centric service interface enables citizens to lodge complaints related to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB).

“The complaints will be forwarded to the departments concerned, and the officers in turn can access the site through a login ID. Three people will handle the website and the queries.

Through the system, the citizens can also monitor the status of their complaints,” Ashwath Narayan said. He said that he had been working on the portal since January. The website will be linked to Sakala service soon, he added.

The portal, within a few hours of inauguration, received more than 100 complaints related to stray dog menace, streetlights, garbage problems and other issues.

Once a citizen lodges a complaint, he/she will be updated on the status of the plea via SMS. The citizens can also use BBMP online services such as downloading of occupancy certificate, birth/death certificates, registrations of trade license, among others.

“Very soon, citizens will be able to voice their grievances related to Bescom, law enforcement, food and civil supplies, health care, ID cards such as Aadhaar, voter’s, ration card and PAN,” added Ashwath Narayan.
