The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) is planning to replicate the Sampige Metro station model in its Phase II.

At the inauguration of the connecting bridge between Sampige Metro station and Mantri Square Mall on Wednesday, BMRCL Managing Director Pradeep Singh Kharola said: “This station is one of the most successful examples of Public Private Partnership (PPP) model and it would be replicated in other stations as well in the Namma Metro Phase II.”

With this connecting bridge, it will be a win-win situation for both Metro and Mantri Mall as the footfall will increase in both the mall and the Metro, he said.

The station has been developed by the Mantri Developers but the design and other technical aspects were provided by the BMRCL, he added.

Mayor B S Satyanarayana, who inaugurated the facility, requested Mantri Developers to adopt some lakes in the City just as some developers have adopted a few playgrounds.

The mayor also asked the BMRCL MD to give similar access to the K R Market Metro Station that is being developed. The Mayor said: “K R Market is being remodelled and once it is done, similar access should be given between the market and the Metro Station.”

Area Corporator K V Mallesh requested both the BMRCL and the Mantri Developers to make efforts to ease the traffic congestion on the Platform Road.

Sushil Mantri, Chairman and Managing Director, Mantri Developers Pvt Ltd, said the direct connection with the Bangalore Metro will also help reduce vehicular traffic and provide hassle-free access to Metro commuters getting off at Sampige station directly into the mall.

The connectivity to the Sampige Road Metro Station has been jointly developed by the BMRCL and the Mantri Developers.
