JD(S) State Vice-President H T Rajendra said that Town Panchayat is an autonomous body but yet there is interference of MLA in its functioning at various levels.
“A sum of Rs 1.60 crore has been spent in the town for providing drinking water facilities and the inauguration of the works has been done without bringing it to the notice of the Town Panchayat JD(S) members. There has been misappropriation in the project and further the silt lifted from the lake has been dumped into the forest, destroying the forest areas,” he said and added that truth must be brought out after holding an enquiry into the issue.
Town Panchayat Member K Y Ramesh, Syed Mohommad Gaus and others were present.
