Speaking after inaugurating the 3rd national convention and scientific conference organised by the Indian Homoeopathic Medical Association (IHMA) here on Sunday, the minister dwelt upon the image of Homoeopathy among the common people. For the rural folk, a Homoeopathy is next only to God, who is often considered a sorcerer who cures any disease through divine water (the liquid medicine given by Homoeopaths). But as far as city folk are considered, every one is after Allopathic medicine and a Homoeopath is of no value,” he said and recalled his experiences with Homoeopathy.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by the IHMA, the minister said that around 150 Homoeopathic doctors are soon to be posted at different locations in the State and the steps have already been taken for the same. “Homoeopathy has medicine for all possible diseases, except for ‘mobile mania’ which is day by day destroying people’s physical as well as mental health,” the minster lamented.  Earlier, President of IHMA Dr S Sreejeev in his presidential address urged the Government of Karnataka to open more Homoeopathic institutions and also to form a committee to study the scope of Homoeopathy for poor people. Kerala and UP has the most number of Homoeopathic institutes. Other states need to catch up with them, he added.

Secretary of IHMA Dr Roshan Pinto presented the memorandum to the minister to be passed on to the Chief Minster. Administrator of Fr Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Dr Abraham Zacharias of St George Homoeo Pharmacy and Principal of Alva’s Homoeopathic Medical College Dr Vernekar felicitated the function.

Conference Chairman Dr Girish Navada, Organising Secretary Dr Prasanna Kumar and others were present on the occasion.
