Rain resumes in U-K dist

Rain resumed in Uttara Kannada district on Thursday after a two-day break. Coastal areas, Malnad and semi-arid region in the district received light rains. 

There was drizzling in Bhaktal, Ankola, Honnavar and Karwar. However, it rained heavily for a while towards noon in Karwar. It rained intermittently in Sirsi, Siddapur and Yallapur. There was sunny weather in Mundgod and Joida.

Rain receded in parts of Shimoga district on Thursday. Hosanagar, Sagar and some parts of Theerthahalli received moderate rain.

Though Linganamakki dam has almost reached the brim, water is unlikely to be released from the reservoir as the inflow decreased to  10,000 cusecs on Thursday. 

Speaking to Deccan Herald over phone, Karnataka Power Corporation Limited Chief Engineer (Sharavathy Powerhouse)  Rajamudi said that they were not in a hurry to release water.

The intensity of rain decreased comparatively in Kodagu district on Thursday. Many parts of the district received normal rains. 

Bhagamandala, Virajpet, Gonikoppa, Shrimangala, Sampaje and surrounding areas have received good rains. During the last 24 hours ended at 8.30 am on Thursday, Bhagamandala received 8.2 cm rains, while 4.4 cm rain has been recorded in Napoklu and Madikeri.
