Need for another Quit India stressed

The Quit India Movement initiated by Mahatma Gandhi to chase British from the country needs to be re-launched to ward off corruption, destruction of public property, in fights which are rampant in the country,” opined Kuvempu University former Vice-Chancellor Dr Chidananda Gowda.

Speaking after inaugurating the 8th State-level chutuku sahithya sammelana at Arameri Kalancheri mutt near Virajpet on Saturday, he said in 1986 India was in III place in corruption. However, now it has been elevated to second place. Owing to the global melt down, all the countries are facing severe financial crunch and is affecting banking and development. The financial condition of 43 poor countries are in doldrums.

In his presidential address, senior litterateur Dr Sa Shi Maruliaha opined that the Kannada literature has become beautiful, owing to the English literature connection.
