Last Updated 07 September 2014, 21:11 IST

The City was drenched in a spell of good rains on Sunday evening. The City received 1.3 mm rainfall, and HAL airport 7.4 mm till 8.30 pm.

The weekend crowd shopping in the Central Business District (CBD) areas of MG Road, Brigade Road and Commercial Street had to bear with the sudden downpour.

People heading towards Commercial Street faced a tough time as an overflowing manhole on Sepping’s Road affected the movement of vehicles. The area was crowded in view of the annual feast at St Mary’s Basilica in Shivajinagar.

BBMP workers deployed

The staff at the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) control room said that workers were immediately sent to clear the waterlogging. However, no traffic jams were reported. The rainfall left a tree uprooted at Cauvery Bhavan on Kempegowda Road. However, no losses were reported.

B Puttanna, director of Indian Meteorological Department, Bangalore, said: “The normal amount of rainfall the City should receive in the month of September is 211.5 mm. The City has recorded low rainfall amounts over the last few days. However, in the coming days Bangalore is expected to receive good rainfall.”
