Digging deep into desserts

Rina Chakravarty used to bake cupcakes and goodies for her kids and friends before starting her ‘Sweet Tooth’ in the City about two years back.

“My friends and family encouraged me to consider baking seriously. They are the ones who pushed me. And once I started off, there was no looking back,” says the mother of two. Rina loves making cream cakes and uses fondant rarely, mostly only to make designs on the cake.

Rina has made cakes in different shapes, varying from underwater theme cake to beer mug cake. She even baked a ‘Brazuca’ cake for a football fan to ‘candybox cake’.

“Every cake that I bake is important to me. I love it when a cake requires a lot of detailing as my creativity is challenged. One of my favourites was a makeup theme cake I did for teenager. It had various cosmetic items on it. The Lego theme cake was quite challenging too,” she says.

How much time does she need to prepare a theme-based cake? “It’s best if I’m informed four to five days in advance, so that I can analyse the theme and work on the little details. I have done simple cakes in a few hours. But it’s best if I get ample time for theme cakes,” she says.

She started with cupcakes and even makes chocolates like ‘Oh Oh Mirchi’, ‘Classic Coconut’, ‘Oozy Boozy’ with interesting fillings. “I deliver the cakes myself when required. Also the customer can pick his or her delivery accordingly,” she says. For details, call 9743714255.
