Kris bowls over schoolchildren

Hundreds of boys from Sacred Heart Boys’ High School got the surprise of their life when popular student-superhero Kris from Cartoon Network’s ‘Roll No 21’ paid a visit to their auditorium on Friday.

The young crowd was warmed up with dancing, games and trivia, and received prizes. The children were delighted to see one of their favourite TV characters, whose mantras in the show help them deal with the demands of school life and childhood problems like homework, bullies, brushing teeth, early bedtimes and surprise tests.

Kris, who was inundated by the excited boys, entertained them by dancing and interacting with them during the hour-long session. The school, on Richmond Road, was the first out of the 60 schools in Bangalore to get a visit from Kris, as part of Cartoon Network’s School Contact Program (SCP) – Kris ka Magic Mantra.

Deriving inspiration from the series, the SCP addresses real life ‘villains’ such as preparation for exams and exercising, that some children consider cumbersome and mundane. The program will be rolled out across the country entertaining more than five lakh students in about 500 schools in 10 cities. The list of cities includes Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Kanpur, Kolkata, Pune and Ahmedabad. The program will conclude in mid-September.
