Newlywed woman commits suicide

A newlywed woman, an MTech graduate, committed suicide by hanging herself at her parents’ home in Gowdanapalya under the Subramanyapura police station limits on Saturday night.

According to police, the deceased, Vatsala (26), had married Narasimha, a private Ayurvedic practitioner, around four months ago, and the couple stayed in Nagarabhavi. The police said that Vatsala had recently quit her job and was staying at home.

Her husband had dropped her at her parents’ house in Gowdanapalya on Friday evening, the police said. She had told her parents that she was casually visiting them. On Saturday evening, when her parents returned home after shopping, they found their daughter hanging from the ceiling, the police said.

The shocked parents are said to have immediately called Narasimha about the incident. They also alerted the police, who visited the house. Her father, in a complaint, said that she was generally upset over something which she did not discuss with anyone, and might have committed suicide over it, police said.
