The State government will chalk out an action plan to recover encroached government land in Bangalore urban district based on the findings of the A T Ramaswamy committee, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Friday.

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Siddaramaiah said as per the Joint House Committee headed by Ramaswamy, the total extent of government land in and around Bangalore was 1.22 lakh acres of which 34,110 acres had been encroached.

The chief minister said the government had recovered 14,393 acres and 7,879 acres were for public and civil purposes. The government had received application seeking regularisation of  6,792 acres under bagair hukum (which cannot be considered as encroached land till they are disposed of by the bagair hukum committees).

“We will draw an action plan to recover the remaining 5,046 acres in Bangalore soon,” Siddaramaiah said. He urged freedom fighter H S Doreswamy to withdraw his ongoing sit-in demonstration against the “government’s inaction” in land-grabbing cases.
