Last Updated 22 September 2014, 19:42 IST

A woman, claiming to be the wife of retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) P K Sheshadri, lodged a complaint with the Vyalikaval police on Monday, accusing him of verbally abusing her.

Venkatalakshmamma, a resident of Rajagopalanagar, stated that she had married Sheshadri 12 years ago and lived with him until he sold a site that belonged to her for Rs 15 lakh. But he never gave her any money and when she demanded it, he parted ways with her, she claimed.

She told the police that she had filed a cheating complaint against him at the Mahalakshmi Layout police station on September 9. She went to Sheshadri’s home at Vyalikaval on Monday, accompanied by her brother and daughter. She claimed that Sheshadri then assaulted them and used abusive language.

The retired officer, however, has denied that he ever married Venkatalakshmamma. He admitted that while in service she had met him and had sought his help in a case. He accused the woman of cheating several high-profile men with similar claims.

“I had stood surety when she took a loan from Surabhi Chits Ltd. Now, I get notices as she has failed to repay the money. She has been claiming to be my wife for the last one year,” he said.
