Forex reserves drop futher to $ 283 bn


The foreign currency assets, during the week, declined to $ 258.851 billion from $ 260.866 billion in the week ago, the RBI said in its weekly report .

Foreign currency assets expressed in US dollar terms include the effect of appreciation or depreciation of non-US currencies such as Euro, Sterling, Yen held in reserves, the central bank said.

Gold reserves remained unchanged at $ 18.182 billion this week while the country’s special drawing rights slipped further to $ 5.181 billion as compared to $ 5.247 billion a week ago, the RBI said.

During the week, the country’s reserve position in the International Monetary Fund declined slightly to $ 1.429 billion as compared to $ 1.447 billion in the previous week, the RBI said.
