JOIN USA musical evening called ‘Dreams at Dawn’ was organised by Gangaram Sangeet Trust in collaboration with Indiranagar Club. The event was in remembrance of the legendary singer Mukesh. “I’m an IT professional but my passion is to contribute to the field of music. It’s our first musical project for the cause of the education of poor children in North Karnataka,” said Vinay Shindhe, chairman of Gangaram Sangeet Trust.
The event saw some eminent singers from the industry, like Suresh Yadav, lead of an orchestra, composer and arranger, who worked with Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar during the 1970s and 80s; Ram Kumar Shindhe, who is known as the ‘Mukesh of Karnataka’ and has given more than 2,500 live concerts in India and abroad; Sangeeta Katti, a renowned vocalist who has sung with maestros like M Balamuralikrishna, SP Balasubrahmanyam, KJ Yesudas, Rajkumar and PB Srinivas and the 18-year-old Amrapali Shindhe who has many awards to her credit.
The event witnessed a few solo and duet performances which enthralled the audience and let them dwell in the nostalgic era of Mukesh. Aa Laut Ke Aaja Mere, Jane Kahan Gaye Oh, Mujhko Is Raat Ki Tanahai, Ek Din Bik Ayega, Dil Jalata Hain, Main To Ek Khwab Hoon, Mere Tute Huye Dil Se, O Tere Pyar Ka Gum, Chandan Sa Badan were some of the songs that were performed.
Sharing her experience of performing at the event, Amrapali said, “It’s an honour for me to be sharing the platform with such eminent singers. I have a long way to go and events like this are an amazing opportunity for me to showcase my talent.”
Sangeeta Katti kept the audience grooving to songs like Chhaliya Mera Naam, Mera Joota Hai Japani, Keheta Hai Joker and Awara Hoon. She said, “Music to me is inexpressible and also the most expressible part of my soul. You cannot detach music from my soul.”
Sangeeta had also done a solo show of Mukesh’s songs in 2012. “It was the first time a female singer was singing Mukesh’s songs for about 2000 people. It was a great feeling,” she summed up.
