City builder kidnapped

B M Muniraju (48), proprietor of Balaji Constructions in HRBR Layout, had gone to  a bar and restaurant in Kalyan Nagar on Tuesday night and didn't return home. His wife Vanajakshi lodged a complaint with the Hennur police.

On Thursday, the kidnappers called her on the cell phone and demanded Rs 25 lakhs for his release. In her complaint, she alleged that one Ravi Reddy of Andhra Pradesh, along with his accomplices, had kidnapped her husband. Sources said the captors reportedly asked her to deposit the sum in an account  in HDFC Bank in Kalyan Nagar. They instructed her to come near the bank where the account number would be given to her. However, when Vanajakshi went there, there was no sight of the accused.

The police have constituted three teams to trace the builder, one each for Andhra Pradesh, City and Karnataka-AP border. Hennur Police Inspector Hanumantharaya is leading the team in the neighbouring state.

Producer accused of duping  
Kannada and Telugu film producer Aditya Babu is in the news not just for his Puneet Rajkumar starrer Kannada flick Raam. A Kannada film distributor has lodged a complaint with the police accusing him of cheating. 

M Kantharaju  of Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Combines, Gandhinagar has alleged that Aditya Babu  had promised him  the distribution rights of Raam after the former incurred losses when the producer's earlier film Paramesh Panwala had flopped.

In his complaint, he said that he had obtained distribution rights of the 2008 film starring Shivraj Kumar by paying the producer Rs 2.16 crores. However, he demanded his investment back when the film didn't click.  Aditya Babu promised to give him the distribution rights of his future films. But he backtracked when Raam was up for release, Kantharaju alleged.
