Last Updated 13 October 2014, 21:39 IST

A majority of roads in Central Business District (CBD) witnessed traffic jams, congestion and slow movement of vehicles as a huge procession was taken out by Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha led by Maruthi Manpade.

More than 10,000 farmers took part in the protest rally which began from City railway station to Freedom Park, in support of various demands. Traffic jams were reported for hours especially in and around Majestic area.

There was heavy congestion from Chalukya Circle to Kempegowda bus station.
Traffic moved slowly between Anand Rao Circle and Race Course Road from noon to 2.30 pm, the Upparpet traffic police said. Vehicles on their way to KR Circle through Anand Rao Circle were diverted through Basaveshwar Circle and CID junction (Palace Road) instead of Anand Rao Circle flyover and Freedom Park.

Additional forces

Additional forces were deployed to regulate traffic. Buses from Majestic were held up in huge traffic jams, causing hardship to commuters, police added.

Vehicles moved at snail’s pace on Okalipuram Road, Seshadri Road, Ambedkar Veedhi, Police Thimmaiah Circle, Vittal Mallya Road and MG Road. Commuters on Kempegowda Road, JC Road, Hudson Circle, Siddaiah Road and KH (Double) Road too faced a lot of hardships on the day.

The vehicles had piled up for some time between KR Circle and Hudson Circle.
