MLA's son gets bail in ore export case

Vivek Hebbar, the proprietor of Dream Logistics and the son of Yellapur MLA Shivaraj Hebbar, was granted conditional bail by a special CBI court on Monday, in connection with the theft and illegal transportation of iron ore from the Belekeri port

He is likely to walk out of Central Prisons, Parappana Agrahara on Tuesday. Vivek will be the first person to be released from the prison in the illegal ore export case from Belekeri port.

Kampli MLA Suresh Babu, Kudligi MLA Nagendra, Karwar MLA Satish Sail and Bellary-Vijayanagar MLA Anand Singh, who have been arrested in the same case, have been lodged in the Parappana Agrahara prisons. None of them have got bail.

Arrested in 2013

The CBI police arrested Vivek when he came to its office in Ganganagar for inquiry on December 23, 2013. There were two cases against him, involving Dream Logistics and Printex companies.

He is accused of illegally exporting about 1.8 lakh metric tonnes of iron ore through Dream Logistics and about 2 lakh metric tonnes through Printex.

The judge imposed a few conditions before granting bail like furnishing two securities, submission of passport, cooperating with the CBI inquiry, not tampering with evidence and not influencing witnesses.

Dream Logistics managing director Prakash Hegde was also granted conditional bail.
