CCB cops raid luxury hotel; bust hi-profile flesh trade racket

City Crime Branch (CCB) police on Friday busted a hi-profile flesh trade racket and rescued a young woman from West Bengal. The perpetrators were luring customers by sending the girl’s photos on WhatsApp, and were later ferrying them to a luxury hotel in J P Nagar.

Acting on a tip off, the crime branch police led by Inspectors P A Sooraj and R Jagadish raided Royal Chalet Hotel on Akka Mahadevi road, J P Nagar here and rescued the woman. The woman  was forced into the trade at room number 301 at the hotel. She had been specially flown for the purpose from Kolkata to Bangalore on October 14, before she was brought down to Mysore on October 16.

The kingpin duo behind the immoral trafficking identified as Manjunath alias ‘Santro’ Ravi and Vybhav alias N Kumar are absconding. Devendra Singh from Lakshmipuram has been arrested. Police have also recovered a cellphone and cash from the hotel. The woman has been sent to Shaktidhama, a centre for rehabilitation of women on Mysore-Nanjangud road.

Ravi, who is a history sheeter, had been arrested on similar charges, after a raid on a house in Vijayanagar police limits ahead of Dasara recently. He had been arrested and remanded to judicial custody, before he was released on bail. Ravi had continued with his illegal activity later, police said.

In another case, CCB police arrested a youth on the charges of vehicle lifting and recovered a two-wheeler worth Rs 40,000 from him on Friday.
The accused identified as Raghava K S alias Raghu, 26 years, and resident of Papanna Layout, Yaraganahalli was a fast food vendor by profession. He was running a mobile food joint on Mysore-T Narsipur road. Following this arrest, the police have solved a case registered in Vijayanagar police station.
