Parties, night outs, gifting and spending quality time with family... are high on the list. The young are leaving no stone unturned to go all out and have loads of fun.
Barring students of professional courses who are tied up with their semester exams, most youngsters including hostellers have taken prior permission from their parents to party out late on New Year’s Eve. Richard Rodrigues, an engineering student says he’d like to spend his the New Years on M G Road and Brigade Road — the two hot spots for young people.

Despite restrictions imposed by the police, these two places have remained all time favourites with the young.

“It is a visual treat to see the brightly lit stretch of M G Road. A few of my friends have decided to throw a party. We are yet to finalise the venue,” he says and adds, “midnight mass and church is a must for me.”
Sathwik, a degree student, will join his friends in ushering in the New Year. “My friends are planning to book a resort and spend New Year’s Eve there. It’s only once a year that we get together and splurge. So we make the best of the occasion,” he says.

Nitesh, a third year student in New Horizon College, celebrates the big day with his hostel mates. He says, “I have been celebrating the New Year in the hostel for last three years. We enjoy the occasion to the fullest. Hostellers get together and arrange a party on the hostel premises. More than 300 students come together and dance to popular tunes. But it’s also our exam time so we have kept the celebrations low key.”

Praveen Kumar, a software engineer in Wipro, doesn't want to celebrate New Year in a big way. "I will watch the television until midnight. Then, I’ll wish all my near and dear ones and pray for peace, hope and prosperity in the New Year. That’s my mode of celebration,” Praveen beams.
While the whole City is agog and upbeat about partying this New Year’s Eve, what are your plans?
