Last Updated 31 October 2014, 18:47 IST

A day after a complaint of rape was lodged against one of its faculty members, the management of The Indiranagar Cambridge School dismissed him from service.

“We are outraged and shocked by the recent incident. Throughout the day we have not been able to appear in front of the media as the matter is sub judice and the environment is hostile. We have been in constant touch with the officials and co-operating with the authorities concerned by providing all the required and relevant information. We are relieved that the accused has been arrested, produced before the magistrate and taken into custody,” a media note issued by the management stated.

The accused staffer has been dismissed from service and following measures are being reinforced: mandatory verification of all male staff members with security audit from the senior police officers along with a check of their antecedents; more number of CCTVs to cover larger areas including the common areas; creating awareness about good touch and bad touch among students and also educating the parents; full-time psychologist to ensure continuous access to students; comprehensive and inclusive parents’ committees for suggestions, including vetting the credentials of teaching and non-teaching staff; additional safety measures in consultation with relevant authorities and parents.
