Cong leaders plead Rahul for posts

Last Updated 31 October 2014, 19:49 IST

Former MLAs and other Congress leaders from Karnataka met Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi here on Friday, pleading that they be accommodated in state-run boards and corporations.

Over a dozen leaders, including former MLAs Suresh Gowda, Gita Rajanna and B Thimmapur, told Gandhi they were loyal workers of the party and hence, should not be ignored in the appointments to boards and corporations. These leaders came to the national capital to plead their case after the recent guidelines of the party categorically stated that only party workers will be appointed to boards and corporations and not former MLAs and leaders who lost the last Assembly elections.

Although Rahul Gandhi did not promise anything to the delegation, Suresh Gowda told Deccan Herald that they had suggested that at least 25 per cent of posts be given to former MLAs and a similar number to sitting MLAs.
