SI Thomas, constables, Lokesh, Srikantaswamy, Madeshaiah, Mahadevu and Doreswamy and driver Mahesh are suspended.
The in-charge SP has issued the orders following the directions from the IGP (Forest Mobile Squad), sources from SP office said.
On December 18 the policemen, who were on duty at Gundal, arrested poachers belonging to ‘Hakki-Pikki’ a tribal community and let them off the hook after keeping a few birds.
The policemen feasted on the birds at a farm house near Thomiarpalya.
A few mediapersons, who witnessed this, lodged a complaint with the police. Meanwhile, the accused are not attending the duty and are on the run fearing arrest.
The SP (Forest Squad) visited the farm house and conducted an inquiry.
