Last Updated 02 November 2014, 19:53 IST

Former MLC Abdul Azeem has quit the JD(S), saying the atmosphere in the party was “suffocating” and he could not take it any more.

Azeem submitted his resignation from the post of party general secretary and the primary membership to the JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda on Sunday. He, along with his supporters, is likely to join the BJP on November 5.

Azeem, a former police officer, had contested as JD(S) candidate in the recent Lok Sabha elections from Bangalore North. In recent months, he had expressed his displeasure over the style of functioning of JD(S) leader and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.
