Last Updated 04 November 2014, 11:39 IST

Singer Hariharan will compose the theme song of the 35th edition of the National Games to be held in Kerala early next year.

Penned by lyricist Javed Akhtar, the focus of the song will be national integration and sports fitness.

The song, which calls for love and dedication in sports, will give the message that it is not victory or failure that matters in a game, the games organisers here said.

The three-minute-long song, which starts in a slow pitch, will be one which instills sportsman spirit and youthful enthusiasm among listeners, they said.

The song will be sung by a number of eminent singers including veteran K J Yesudas, Shreya Ghoshal, Salim Merchant and actor-singer Sruthi Hassan besides Hariharan, they said.

The fortnightly event is scheduled to be held in different venues across the state from January 31 to February 14.

The state is hosting the sports carnival after a gap of 27 years.
