Rape convict sentenced to life

The Principal District and Sessions Court on Wednesday awarded life imprisonment to a 32-year-old man convicted for rape of a minor girl.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs 52,000 on the convicted. Dayanand Borale, a resident of Saigaon village in Bhalki taluk, was accused of kidnapping a five-year-old girl of the same village on the night of December 17, 2012, from her house, sexually assaulting her and abandoning her later.

The parents of the girl shifted her to a Bidar hospital and later to Hyderabad where she was treated.  Hulsoor police had registered a case and arrested Borale, two days after the incident.Judge Sanjeev Kumar Hanchate held Bosale guilty under Sections 366, 376(I) and 372(m) of IPC and also under Sections 4 and 6 of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

The court also directed the District Legal Services Authority to look into the possibility of paying compensation to the family of the girl under Rape Victim Compensation scheme. Special Public Prosecutor Ramachandra Lamani represented the prosecution.
