<p>A kidnapped 67-year-old man was rescued when one of the abductors came to receive a ransom of Rs 3 lakh in west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The victim was trapped with the help of a woman member of the gang, who lured him through prostitution, police said on Saturday.<br /><br />A probe was initiated after Nangloi-resident Murad Ali approached Mianwali Nagar police station on Thursday.<br /><br /> “Murad reported that his father Islamuddin was missing since he went to their iron fabrication shop around 1.30 pm,” said Ranvir Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police (West).<br /><br />Murad had contacted Islamuddin soon after he left home, but Islamuddin had said he would call back later.<br /><br /> Around 3.30 pm, Islamuddin called Murad and asked him to arrange Rs 3 lakh for his safe release. When Murad inquired further, Islamuddin informed that the money should be arranged immediately or the kidnappers would kill him. <br /><br />On Murad’s statement, a case was registered with Mianwali Nagar police station.<br />During investigation, family members were examined and suspects interrogated. <br /><br />Islamuddin’s mobile number was also put on surveillance. “Later, the kidnappers told the complainant to reach Punjabi Bagh for the delivery of the ransom amount. Accordingly, the complainant along with a police team reached there and a trap was laid,” Singh added.<br /><br />After some time, a kidnapper came at the decided location to collect the money and was overpowered by the police team.<br /><br /> He was identified as Shiv Kumar, 29, a resident of Om Vihar Phase 2 in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar.<br /><br />On interrogation, Shiv told police that he was a member of a gang which lured victims and extorted money through its women members.<br /><br /> “Their modus operandi is that the women will invite clients at their house for immoral activities. When the client reaches the pre-decided place, other members of the gang take their photographs in objectionable positions,” Singh said.<br /><br />“Raids are being conducted to arrest the remaining members of the gang,” Singh added.</p>
