Even as controversy rages over different branches of Narayana E-Techno School running without proper recognition and affiliation, it has emerged that the son of a senior IPS officer of Karnataka cadre is the president of the society that runs these schools.

Puneet Kothappa, president, Narayana Educational Society, based in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, that runs a number of Narayana schools in AP and Karnataka, is the son of senior IPS officer Bipin Gopalkrishna, currently Additional Director General of Police (CID). Puneet is a chartered accountant by profession. His wife, P Sindhura is the daughter of Narayana P, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Planning in the Andhra Pradesh government. Sindhura is the joint- director of the society.

A letter issued by the society on Monday claimed that a general body meeting of the society was held on June 15, where a new managing committee came into force with Puneet taking over as the president of the society. A copy of the minutes of the meeting shows the committee members accepting the resignation of Ponguru Ramadevi, who was the vice-president of the society till then.

Sudhakar Chilla, vice-president, Operations, Narayana Group of Institutions, told Deccan Herald Narayan P was no longer connected with society. The letter asked authorities concerned to “not use Narayana P’s name in future communications” and to refer to Puneet henceforth.

Other members are Raparu Dhanalakshmi (vice-president), Raparu Koteshwar Rao (secretary), Sambasiva Rao (treasurer), Yedalapaddi Vinay Kumar (member) and Nishith Narayana (member). A few of them are relatives of Narayana.
