Six Nepalese have been arrested for trying to burgle Oriental Bank of Commerce’s Daryaganj branch in central Delhi last month.

The gang had attempted to break the door of bank’s strong room, police said on Monday.

Two members of the gang were captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the bank on October 28 night.

“A secret information was received on November 7 that the persons involved in the crime would come to east Delhi’s Kailash Nagar,” said Alok Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police (Central).

Accordingly, a trap was laid near Mother Dairy in Kailash Nagar, which led to the arrest of Ram Bahadur, Ram Singh, Padam Thapa and Dal Bahadur.

Two bunches of keys and cash was recovered from them. “CCTV footage of the bank revealed that Ram Bahadur was one of the accused persons who entered into the bank,” Kumar added.

At their instance, Ratan Bahadur and Man Bahadur were also arrested, but another accused Sunil Chaudhary is absconding.

Sustained interrogation further revealed that the gang primarily targeted shops and offices where they would do a recce during the day and see cash movement. Thereafter, they would commit burglary in the late hours of the night.

“Dal Bahadur planned to burgle the bank. On verification, it was also found that Dal Bahaudur has previous involvement in six cases of house burglary registered with Moti Nagar, Bara Hindu Rao, Preet Vihar and Prashant Vihar police stations,” Kumar said.
