With the 12-year-old case hitting headlines after the conviction of former DGP SPS Rathore in the Ruchika molestation case, the state Home Department has sprung into action. “A six-member SOG team has been formed to arrest Tandon,” ADG Kanhaiya Lal (crime) said.
The SOG will also try to track Bitti Mohanti, who jumped parole last year in December. He was convicted for raping a German researcher in 2007 in Alwar. Bitti’s father is a senior police officer in Orissa.

Dr Kirori Lal Meena—a sitting MP from Dausa—who staged a protest with the family of the tribal woman outside the chief minister’s residence on Tuesday was later arrested under various sections of the CrPC. His supporters disrupted traffic in the tribal populated parts of Dausa district on wednesday.

Tandon had allegedly raped his orderly’s wife at his Noida residence in 1997. Her husband was forced to quit his job a few years later. Tandon was initially suspended and later terminated from service in 2003. Meena has been accusing the Rajasthan police for having protected Tandon due to his alleged strong political connections.

The Congress had vowed in its 1998 manifesto to follow up the case, but Tandon was not arrested. The BJP government led by Vasundhara Raje also did not take action against Tandon.
