JOIN USA teenager was arrested for attempting to rape a four-year-old girl at an isolated place in Kalkere under Ramamurthy Nagar police station limits.
Based on the complaint filed by the victim's parents, the accused was identified as Harinder, 18, a native of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. He had come to the City around a year ago and was working as a painter.
On Tuesday noon, he found the victim playing in front of her house in Punyabhoomi Layout in Kalkere. He tried to lure her by offering to buy her some snacks.
When the girl refused, Harinder forcibly took her. Though the child started crying, it went unnoticed as there was no one around. He took her to an isolated place, undressed her and started touching her at inappropriate places. As the girl was started crying, he got frightened and clothed her. He then took the victim towards her house, police said.
Daughter missing
Meanwhile, the father of the victim, who had come home for lunch, noticed that his daughter was missing and asked his wife. When the couple didn’t find their daughter at their home, they started searching outside.
They found Harinder bringing their daughter. However, on spotting the victim’s parents, he left the girl and fled the place, police added.
The girl’s mother noticed that her clothes were dirty and there were finger marks on her cheeks. She also noticed that one of her eyes was red and swollen.
When asked, the girl said that the accused had taken off her clothes and had slapped her. The parents lodged a complaint. The parents, who had seen the accused, gave the description to police. A senior police officer said, “The accused was immediately arrested from Kalkere and booked for rape and under provisions of Pocso Act. The girl was subjected to medical examination.”
A member of All India Democratic Women’s Association, Gowramma, said, “On receiving the information, we went to the spot and realised that the parents did not understand Kannada. We helped the parents lodge a complaint and rushed the victim to a nearby hospital as her condition was getting worse. The suspect not only tried to molest her but also beat her up severely,” she said.
