Rowdies at bay
If not the second and third-rung rowdies, the cream is now under the surveillance of the city cops. Among them, Diwan Ali, Koti Rama, Korangu, Katarguppe Linga, Asgar, Onte Sunila, Sunil, Poison Rama, JCB Narayana, and Mulla are cooling their heels in Parappana Agrahara jail. Many of their properties have been confiscated by the police. Parandama, Nana and Hotte Mahesh were also sent to jail under the Goonda Act.

City Police Commissioner, Shankar Bidari also made  use of many laws which were not used by his processors --- Use of Money Laundering Act, Externment Act, and Exorbitant interest Act, Unlawful activities (prevention) Act 1967, Chit Fund Act came in handy. He also circulated books lets, pamphlets of habitual criminals (chain snatchers, burglars, vehicle lifters etc) photos and their details of involvement in various crimes. This helped to a large extent in checking the crime rate. Another noteworthy move was persuading the warrants (pending proclamations) and absconding offenders that were accumulating dust over the years.
