Woman axes son for harassing her, daughter-in-law

A woman allegedly killed her son in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh for repeatedly harassing her and his wife after getting drunk, police said today.

The woman, Narasamma took an axe and allegedly hit her son, C Shivashanker, aged around 35 years, while he was sleeping in their house in Kanigiri Mandal of Prakasam district last night, Kanigiri sub-inspector Sheikh Feroz said.

Shivashanker, who was "addicted" to liquor used harass and beat his mother and wife daily in a drunken state, the officer said, based on preliminary investigation.

"Last night, Shivashanker came in an inebriated condition and started harassing his mother and wife. He was allegedly hit with a axe by his mother in his sleep. After killing her son, the woman dragged his body and buried it near their house today," the SI said.

A case of murder has been registered in this regard and efforts were underway to exhume the body, he said, adding, the woman was yet to be arrested and further probe was on.
