MU moves towards e-governance

Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof Byrappa K said that the Mangalore University will move towards e-governance. A new web portal will be developed, which will be user-friendly and interactive.

Speaking to mediapersons, he said that the university will digitise the entire data base. The work will be taken up in three phases and the digitisation of documents will be completed in two years. “We are expecting fund from the government to take up the initiative,” he added.

The VC said to promote research activities and also motivate teachers to take up consultancy, a Research and Consultancy Promotion Cell (RCPC) has been set up. Realsing the need for strengthening consultancy programme in a big way, in order to encourage staff members of the university to work in collaboration with industries and institutions in the area of their experience and expertise, the cell has been constituted. Professional and expert advise in particular area by the staff members would them a supportive incentive from the amount generated under the consultancy programme. This programme is initiated to encourage members, especially from the departments of Chemistry, Life Sciences, Statistics, Computer Science, Marine Geology, Physics, Material science, Social work, Sociology, Economics, Business administration and Yogic science departments along with facilities like Microtron Centre, OASTC, CARRT and other central facilities of the university, he added.
