JOIN USThe State government has received nominees from the University Grants Commission (UGC) for search committees for the six universities in the State where the vice-chancellor’s post needs to be filled.
Minister for Higher Education R V Deshpande on Tuesday said, “The search committees to fill these posts were already constituted but we were waiting for the UGC to send its nominees. I had written a letter to the union HRD minister in this regard. They have now sent their list.”

According to sources, the names in the UGC list are: Manjappa Hosamani, former V-C of Sri Krishnadevaraya University (UGC nominee for Rani Chennamma University); VG Talwar, former V-C of Mysore University (UGC nominee for Gulbarga University); Prof N R Shetty, former V-C of Bangalore University (Krishnadevaraya University).
However, with regard to Karnatak University, the government nominee for the search committee is finalised and the rest are yet to be finalised. With respect to Gulbarga University, all nominees except the university nominee have to be finalised, according to the minister.
