Depressed businessman hangs himself

Two persons, including a 33-year-old businessman, committed suicide in Channammanakere Achchukattu police limits, on Tuesday.

According to the police, the deceased Basavaraj, a businessman, hung himself from the ceiling at his friend’s house in Srinivas Nagar. It is suspected that Basavaraj took the extreme step due to alleged loss in his business.

On Tuesday afternoon, he went to his friend Srivatsa’s house, telling him he was depressed having suffered severe loss in business. Srivatsa, a film director, consoled him to calm down, stating things would get better.

He told Basavaraj that he had to take food to his wife, who was admitted in a hospital, while Basavaraj stayed back at his house, police said.

Police said the incident came to light on Tuesday evening, when Srivatsa came back home and found Basavaraj hanging from the ceiling. He alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted the body for postmortem.
