The Delhi Congress plans to outwit rivals in the cyber space is taking some time to unfold as the party is working hard to launch a big social media campaign and revamp its website ahead of the next Assembly polls.

Radhika Khera, head of social media cell of Delhi Congress, told Deccan Herald:  “Yes, we are little late in the battle.”

“We are about to launch a separate page ‘We Changed Delhi’ to feed information to people about development undertaken by the previous Congress government in the last 15 years,” she said.

Khera, a Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress general secretary, is coordinating the operations within the team which has been granted special space on the top floor of the building housing the office of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.

“We will lead our campaign far better than our challengers as by the next week we are coming up with our website,” said Khera.

“A digital ‘war room’ has been set up in our Delhi pradesh office and we will start a full blown campaign on social media,” she said.

“On the social media, we will be posting weekly newsletters through which we will be telling people about our initiatives and the achievements,” she said.

WhatsApp numbers

“Before the elections, the social media unit of Delhi Congress will also introduce 70 different numbers on WhatsApp for each Assembly to connect with electorate of respective areas,” she said.

She said besides posting frequent updates on Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp, her team will monitor news channels and websites as well.

“In the run-up to the election, the Delhi Congress has also decided to interact with the voters through a door-to-door campaign under the banner of ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’,” added Khera.

Khera’s strength is her 15-member team which works round the clock with the support of nearly 100 volunteers.

A weak social media campaign has been the focus of post-poll analysis by the party after last two elections – December 2013 Assembly elections and General Elections 2014.
