'Drunk' Manipur boy slips off stairs, dies

Last Updated 22 November 2014, 03:08 IST

A 21-year-old man from Manipur was found dead outside his rented house in south Delhi’s Vasant Vihar late on Thursday. Police suspect that he died after slipping off the stairs.

The victim has been identified as Thangsonalian who worked with a private company in south Delhi’s RK Puram.

He lived on rent on the second floor of a building in Ber Sarai. Thangsonalian’s brother was also in the house.

His statement has been recorded in which he narrated the sequence of events.
Police said Thangsonalian had gone to Ambedkar Stadium to watch a football match and returned home around 11.30 pm.

At the house, Thangsonalian consumed alcohol with his friends and then went outside.
Not responding

After sometime, he was found on the staircase of the ground floor by neighbours. As he was not responding, locals made a call to the police control room.

“Thangsonalian was rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre, where he was declared brought dead,” said a police officer.

The hospital authorities confirmed that he had consumed alcohol, but nothing was stated about drug consumption.

The spot was also analysed by police and it is suspected that he slipped off the stairs.
“We suspect that Thangsonalian was going downstairs in an inebriated condition during which he lost consciousness,” the officer added.

Thangsonalian had sustained head injuries and there were bloodstains on the staircase. There were no other injury marks on his body due to which police have ruled out any foul play.

Vasant Vihar police are investigating the matter, but no case has been filed so far.
He came to the capital last year and joined the company in RK Puram after completing a stenography course.

Third incident
This is the third incident involving men from Manipur in the last three days.
On Wednesday, 32-year-old Kashung Zingran Kengoo was found dead in south Delhi’s Kotla Mubarakpur, while 22-year-old Vihrill Shunni was found dead in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on Thursday.
