Last year's mess haunts confused parents again

Last Updated 02 December 2014, 02:00 IST

Parents seeking admission for their children fear that the stalemate over the nursery admissions will stretch and continue like last year, in turn delaying the enrolment process.

Guardians want that the government come up with guidelines soon. “I am worried about nursery admissions this year. With the latest developments, I fear that the stalemate will continue for months and it will delay the admission process like last year,” said Sunita Gupta, who is seeking admission of her four-year-old son.

“All we want is that the government should come up with such guidelines which are not opposed by any quarter of the society,” she added.

Some parents said that nursery admission has become nightmare for them. “The government has not learned anything from its mistakes. It promised that the nursery admission guidelines for 2015-16 academic session will come out earlier this year. But it has failed to do so,” said Vineet Das, father of two children.

“Last year also I got stuck in the nursery admission mess and this year also I am fearing that nothing is going to change. The real sufferers are parents,” he added, who is looking to admit his youngest daughter to nursery class.

Even teachers echoed similar views. “We want nursery classes to start soon. It looks like it has become every year’s occurrence,” said a teacher. “The city government should not play with the future of kids.”
