Kuppegala: Students eat midday meals

Deputy Commissioner C Shikha said normalcy has returned to the Government Higher Primary School in Kuppegala as students, irrespective of community, sat down to eat their midday meals on Friday.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Shikha said reconciliatory efforts by village leaders have borne fruit.

Revenue and District In- charge Minister V Sreenivas Prasad too held talks with leaders of both communities to help resolve the row involving upper class students and dalits.

SP Abhinav Khare said tight security arrangements have been made to prevent any untoward incidents. “Though the deployment of security force is not essential it is only in the interest of maintaining orderliness in the village,” he added.

120 students attend

On Saturday, five more students attended the school taking the total number of students to 120 against the actual strength of 150 at the school. The students present in the school ate midday meals along with the village elders.
