A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death with a pair of scissors allegedly by a man who was recently released from Tihar Jail. Police said they have arrested the 21-year-old accused.

While the murder took place during a scuffle in a marketplace in south Delhi’s Sultanpur on Saturday evening, his family has alleged that Akshay was killed because of an old enmity.
Police said Akshay and his three friends were going on two motorcycles around 6.30 pm on Saturday when the incident took place.

As they reached the Sultanpur market, they found Suraj creating ruckus in a lane. He was allegedly drunk.

Suraj tried to stop the two motorcycles upon which Akshay and his friends asked him to move away. This resulted in a heated exchange and a subsequent scuffle between Suraj and them.

The accused suddenly pulled out a pair of scissors and attacked Akshay.

Fled from spot
He stabbed him repeatedly in his chest and fled from the spot before others could react. One of Akshay’s friends too was injured in the assault. He is said to be out of any danger though.

Akshay’s friends called his family and shifted the injured boy to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to Safdarjung Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

A case of murder was registered with Fatehpur Beri police station as police took up investigations. The accused person was arrested on Sunday from his hideout in Sultanpur, said police.

“Suraj has been found to be involved in some thefts in the past and was even jailed for the crime till sometime ago,” said a police officer.

Akshay lived with his family in Sultanpur and was pursuing his diploma from a private institute in Shakarpur, said police.
