Governor Vajubhai Vala on Monday praised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to the skies stating that the latter had rendered great service to the people of the State by launching the mobile governance initiative “Karnataka MobileOne”.

“It is a great task which nobody has initiated in the past”, Vala said referring to the chief minister as “Siddaramaiahji” at least seven to eight times during his speech at the launch event attended by President Pranab Mukherjee in Bengaluru.
“Irrespective of which party is in power, it is important that the person in power brings governance closer to the people”, he said.

Vala said Karnataka has great potential and Siddaramaiah has tapped it. The chief minister has given an opportunity for the youngsters to showcase their talent by launching the e-governance initiative, he said while congratulating Siddaramaiah.

The project brings information to the fingertips and empowers people, the Governor said giving full credit to the chief minister for initiating the programme.

Team hailed

Information Technology and e-governance department secretary Srivatsa Krishna made a presentation on the State government’s mobile governance initiative “Karnataka Mobile One” at the launch of the project in Bengaluru on Monday.

He thanked a whole lot of dignitaries on and off the dais during the vote of thanks. But he forgot to thank the first citizen of the country, Pranab Mukherjee, who launched the service.

Krishna, who thanked his team at the e-governance department who were part of the Mobile One project by naming them individually, forgot to thank President Pranab Mukherjee and Governor Vajubhai Vala present on the dais.

The first person that Krishna thanked was fellow IAS officer Gunjan Krishna (who happens to be his wife) whom he said was instrumental in giving a shape to the project, 13 months ago. She was earlier with the e-governance department. Krishna also thanked his mother at the end of his address.

Holograms

Holograms of Narendra Modi had become the best selling point for the BJP during the 2014 electioneering. And, at the launch of “Karnataka Mobile One”, similar technology was used to impress the VIPs and audience. The 3-D hologram projection system had been installed on the dais.

As soon as the dignitaries arrived, the lights in the auditorium were dimmed and the audience were treated to a pre-recorded 3-D hologram of Siddaramaiah coming out of Vidhana Soudha, greeting the audience and giving a brief outline of the mobile governance initiative. Next, the hologram image projected President Pranab Mukherjee.
