Service delivery gets a multi-mode mobile governance platform

Karnataka MobileOne is dubbed as the world’s largest multi-mode governance platform with over 4,500 government and private service.

The services can be availed even on simple low-end phones through integrated voice response system (IVRS) by dialling 161.

The services can be accessed via Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) by dialling *161# or by sending SMS to 161. Those who have smart phones can download the Karnataka Mobile One app on Android (Playstore) or iOS (appstore). It is a free service and can be accessed across the country. Link to the app can be obtained by calling 1-800-425-425-425.

Some of the services available are:

Payment of electricity, water, BSNL telephone bill, traffic fines

Updates in status of applications, traffic alerts, query on bus timings among others.

Book railway and bus tickets

File income tax returns and get updates on refund

Once legal formalities are complete, one can file FIR via mobile phones.

ICARE: Wherein citizens can take a picture of potholes, uncleared garbage, non-functional street lights and send it to the authorities concerned for redressal.

The picture will have smart geo-tagging with the exact geo-coordinates.

EMPOWER: For safety of women. The application will send SMS alerts with real-time location updates to pre-loaded contacts  set up by the user in distress situation.

Mobile ICU: Wherein paramedical staff can get guidance from doctors during emergencies.
