A 37-year-old Dutch has been arrested for drug trafficking in the capital. Police have recovered 1,200 LSD absorbent blotter paper worth Rs 8 crore in the international market.

It is the second recovery of LSD blotter in the history of Delhi Police and Narcotics Control Bureau. It is also one of the highest recoveries in India, police said on Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Pedro Maria Tobar Garcia who hails from Amsterdam. Police have also nabbed his accomplice Sunny Khanna who lives in Ghaziabad. “We had information about a drug peddler from The Netherlands, who was planning to supply drugs in Delhi,” said Ajay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).

A probe has revealed that Pedro came to Delhi from Jaipur on December 6, and contacted Sunny. Police had been keeping their activities under watch. On Monday, police were informed that Pedro and Sunny would come near Somnath Marg in east Delhi’s Anand Vihar to supply the drugs.

Acting on the tip-off, a police team arrested Pedro and Sunny near Yamuna Krida bus stand. “We recovered 1,200 LSD blotter. Pedro used to smuggle the drugs from The Netherlands,” Kumar added. The drug, which is in high demand in India, was supplied to rave parties through local drug peddlers.

Pedro’s interrogation has revealed that he smuggled charas from India to European countries. “He has network in Delhi, Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Mumbai,” Kumar said.

Pedro has a business of artificial jewellery in Holland. He told police that he first came to India in connection with his business around six years back. Pedro started a business of artificial jewellery in Jaipur with the help of Indian friends, and later, began exporting artificial jewellery to Holland and other Europeans countries.
