Kempe Gowda statue at Bengaluru airport

G M Siddeshwara, Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, said that the Union government will provide three acres of land to instal a huge statue of Kempe Gowda at the International Airport in Bengaluru.

Speaking at the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Rashtriya Utsava, organised by the Vishwa Vokkaliigara Maha Vedike here on Saturday, he said the State government should take steps to instal the statue.

He said he would also speak to Union Minister for Civil Aviation Gajapati Raju, in this regard.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said Kempe Gowda, the founder of Bangalore, was a great visionary. In those days, as the chieftain of the region, he had developed a planned city with all basic amenities.
