A 27-year-old technician with a private school hanged himself at his rented accommodation in east Delhi’s Seemapuri late on Saturday.
Only a month ago, Rajesh Shankar married a nurse working in Iraq, police said.
Wife in Iraq
The woman had moved to Iraq a few days after marrying Shankar and he had been staying with his parents in Dilshad Colony. He hailed from Adoor in Kerala.
Police said no suicide note has been recovered from his possession.
“We are yet to ascertain why he killed himself. His family has not revealed any problem he was possibly facing. We have questioned his family and friends at work, but they say they did not find his behaviour unusual of late,” a police officer told Deccan Herald.
Police said his wife is expected to return to India soon and she might provide some clues about what could have compelled him to take the extreme step.
He had his dinner with his parents on Saturday and went to his room.
His father went to meet him sometime later only to find the room locked from inside.
Getting no response for long, his father broke open the door and found Shankar hanging from the ceiling fan.
Police were immediately informed and they brought down the body and sent it for a post-mortem.
Body taken to Kerala
His family on Sunday took his body to Kerala on a flight for the last rites.
